Acustop is a clinically tested food supplement that supports auditory function and improves issues related to cochlear-flow hypoperfusion and protects the inner ear from oxidative stress.

Acustop is a clinically tested supplement developed to counteract oxidative stress affecting the inner ear. Its unique formulation combining Ginkgo biloba, Selenium, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and B-complex vitamins helps to preserve hearing and improves microcirculatory balance.

Acustop is available in capsule form to be taken one per day.

Scientific Background

A tight connection between cochlear hypoperfusion and oxidative stress (OS) has emerged and several experimental evidences highlighted a crucial role of OS in the etiopathogenesis of tinnitus.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation can induce apoptotic processes, leading to hair cells death and hearing disorders that significantly affect lifestyle and the quality of life.

In evaluating ear OS, three key elements should be considered:

  • The Blood-Labyrinth Barrier (BLB) is a highly specialized network of capillaries that regulates the normal functioning of cochlear microcirculation, which is relevant for maintaining the proper cochlear flow, as well as the proper functioning of ear hair cells. BLB is one of the CNS structures most damaged by OS.
  • The Mitochondria are responsible for the production of ATP and consequently they are the main source of ROS.
  • The membranes of circulating cells (mainly Red Blood Cells) are altered by OS and O2 supplementation to the inner ear is hampered.

A specific, synergic and harmonic formula is required to concurrently address the main aspects of OS.

Clinical Studies

Thanks to its content of specific ingredients (Vit. C, E, B-complex and Selenium), Acustop has shown beneficial effects in improving cochlear microcirculation and relieving symptoms in subjects with mild-to-moderate idiopathic tinnitus.

It has been clinically proven to support inner ear vascular function and to reduce tinnitus severity associated with oxidative stress and hypoperfusion.

Panminerva Med. 2011:53(3 Suppl 1):89-93.

Great attention should be paid to the harmful effects of oxidative stress (OS) on the inner ear and auditory system. Under physiological conditions, damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) is efficiently managed by the body’s antioxidant defence systems. However, when the production of ROS exceeds the neutralizing capacity of these defences, a condition of oxidative imbalance occurs, making the inner ear particularly vulnerable due to its high metabolic demand, rich vascularization, and anatomical complexity.

The auditory system, like the brain and other central nervous structures, is highly sensitive to OS. Mitochondria, the primary producers of cellular energy, are also the main generators of ROS, and when dysfunctional, they trigger a cascade of oxidative reactions. The microcirculatory network of the cochlea, essential for oxygen and nutrient supply, is one of the first compartments affected. In parallel, the cellular membranes of circulating cells, especially red blood cells, become rigid and less efficient in oxygen transport, further compromising tissue function.

Moreover, prolonged exposure to intense noise, either in everyday environments or occupational settings, amplifies oxidative damage within the auditory structures, contributing to the development of tinnitus and hearing loss.

In this complex scenario, the protection of the ear from OS requires a specific, synergic and harmonized supplementation strategy capable of acting simultaneously on the main compartments involved in cochlear redox imbalance.

Properties and Indications

Acustop is a clinically tested food supplement with a specific action on inner ear function and auditory well-being. Its effectiveness lies in its unique and harmonized composition. Ginkgo Biloba supports normal blood circulation and microcirculatory functionality. ** Selenium, Vitamin C and Vitamin E protect cells from oxidative stress. * B-vitamins help maintain the proper functioning of the nervous system. * They also contribute to the synthesis of cysteine and the metabolism of homocysteine,* a key factor in vascular and degenerative processes affecting the auditory system.
