Kalliope Radical Scavenger is a lotion based on a specific and harmonized combination of red palm oil, squalene, omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, wheat germ oil, silk proteins, centella asiatica and Ginkgo Biloba phytosomes.

Kalliope Radical Scavenger is based on the combination of six natural substances that consider the specific needs of the face, neck, breast and décolleté skin. The red palm oil sustains all the skin compartments: epidermis, collagen/elastin, vessels and dermal cells. Squalene protects the epidermis, which is subject to highly forced turnover and extreme oxidation. The addition of the fatty acids omega 3 and omega 6 allows cells to recover efficiently, providing a highly protective skin barrier against external agents. Wheat germ oil provides the relevant micronutrients required for skin’s cell repair. Silk proteins thanks to the high content in peptides, glutamic acid and phenylalanine have antioxidant actions. Centella asiatica and Ginkgo biloba phytosomes provide antioxidant, immunomodulatory and reporatory actions thanks to their content in asiaticoside, asiatic and madecassic acids and trilactonic diterpenes. 

Scientific Background

Aging processes can be hampered by protecting the skin compartments from excessive oxidation linked to pollution, stress and fatigue, which underlying aging phenomenon. Each skin compartment has to be protected with specific antioxidants. Indeed, the epidermis physiologically produces squalene as a natural antioxidant thanks to the action of sebaceous glands. Unfortunately, squalene availability falls dramatically after the age of 35, making it necessary to rely on external sources. At the same time, collagen and elastin demands for different antioxidants, such as carotenoids and dermal vessels require even further antioxidants. Therefore, it is clear how to deal with skin aging processes requires a pool of antioxidants (cross-system antioxidant complex) able to support the physiological systems that protect our skin from aging. There are several natural substances able to support these functions, but they have to be specifically and harmonically combined in order to be effective.
